The Board approved the proposed 2023 budget as presented.
Prepay Option
Jacob Knudsen, Salem Electric’s member services manager, provided an update on prepay metering. Determining the feasibility of a prepay option for members is part of the Board’s 2021–2026 strategic plan. Research and development are complete, and internal testing has been successful. After approval from the Board, a small pilot project will be scheduled for the first quarter of 2023.
General Manager's Report
Tony Schacher updated the Board on the proposed warehouse facilities project on the east side of the river near Alumina Substation. The design is complete and Salem Electric has engaged the services of a licensed archeologist who will be evaluating the land.
Salem Electric received a first place award in photography at the 2022 Northwest Public Power Association’s Innovations in Communications Conference in the 10,000—24,999 member category.
Three director positions are up for election in 2023 and petition packets are available at Salem Electric. Signatures from 191 members are required to qualify for the ballot. The last day to submit completed petition packets to run for a board position is March 15, 2023.
