What is a PSPS?
During fire season there may be emergencies or weather conditions that prompt electric utilities to turn off the power to reduce the risk of wildfires.
Could a PSPS affect you this summer?
It is not likely, but it’s important to be prepared. A PSPS is not part of our wildfire mitigation plan. However, there is a small chance that Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) could shut off the transmission lines that serve us.
What will happen during a Power Shutoff?
In a high fire risk situation, BPA would shut off the transmission lines that deliver electricity to our substations. As a result, Salem Electric members would be without power. Learn how you can be prepared.
